UK Bed and Breakfast Tips

You should note that Bed and Breakfast in the UK is generally provided in private homes. This means that they offer a more personal level of service but do not necessarily have all the facilities of a 'Hotel'. There may also be a degree of normal ' Family Life ' continuing during your stay - hence it is important to let your hosts know if you have any special requirements or problems with pets etc. at the time of booking.

Breakfast is normally served between 8-9.30am. No other meals are provided. Tea & coffee facilities would be provided in rooms.

Arrival time is usually after 5pm and checkout before 10.30am, this may be more flexible for longer stays. You would be expected to spend the day away from the house.

Normally a B&B room will have a shower facility available for each room, a bath is an additional bonus depending on size of bathroom and design and age of house.

There is a No Smoking policy for all business establishments in the UK and most B&B's would prefer smoking to take place away from the premises altogether.

In the UK B&B need not provide card payment arrangements and may well require cash payments. Deposits can usually be paid by cheque or bank transfer.
